What are the restrictions of the X-ITasset trial version？

1. A period of 30 days from the date of the installation.
2. A maximum of 50 connected client computers at the same time.
3. Only allows up to 3 times reinstallation on one server.
4. Does not support backup server.

How to update to formal version？

In the X-ITasset Console, you can find “Authorization” under “System Manager” module. Click on “Apply” and a website for license application will be displayed to ask you to input all related information. FineArt will send the license file after receiving the application. Click on “Start Authorization” option to activate your license.

How to apply for extension of the trial period？

Please contact your distributor or sales person of FineArt. FineArt will provide a program which you can execute it under the installation directory of X-ITasset Server to extend the trial period.

Is the Server an requirement of using X-ITasset？

Yes, it is a requirement because X-ITasset is based upon the client-server architecture. The X-ITasset Server can be installed either on the same computer as the database server or on another computer. For more information, please refer to the installation instructions in the trial CD.

What is the system requirement of the Server？

Operating system：Windows 2000 or above.Hardware requirement：CPU 2.0GHz or above and RAM 512MB or above.It is highly recommended to have RAM 1GB or higher if the database server and X-ITasset server are the same.

Is database a requirement of using X-ITasset？

Yes, before proceeding with X-ITasset installation, you should ensure you have a database available.

What type of database does X-ITasset support？

MS-SQL 2000、MS-SQL 2005。

Is installing the Client agent a requirement of using X-ITasset？

Yes, it is necessary to install the Client agent to computers which need to be controlled in order to collect information of software/hardware assets, alteration, and software usage, and logs of remote control, file execution, etc.

How to install X-ITasset client agent？

• Remote deployment：This deployment method is for Windows 2000 or higher only. You can select computers which you want to install by using the remote deployment function in the console. If it is failed to install, please refer to “Help.”
• Deployment through Logon Script：When users logon the domain, the client agent will be installed automatically.
• Installing manually： You can execute the setup program under the read-only shared directory of the Server.

How to upgrade from an old version to the new one？

1. Executing X-ITasset Server setup.exe in the installation CD.
2. Selecting “Update X-ITasset Server” in the configuration window.

Will the previous data be deleted after upgrading？

No, it will not.

How to update the version of X-ITasset client agent？

1.Click on “Update” in “System Manager” module in the console, and then you can select computers that you would like to update.
2.When users logon the domain, X-ITasset client agent will be installed through Logon Script automatically.

How to install backup server？

• Please check the installed X-ITasset Server is the formal version, not the trial version.
• Insert the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive of the new backup server. Once the wizard is open, select “Install Backup Server” in the installation options.
