Does MagicDisk encrypt entire hard disk? |
MagicDisk uses patent techniques of Fineart technology that are able to make a particular file simulate as an encrypted virtual disk, but not encrypting the entire hard disk. By that way, the requirements of encryption and performance can be fulfilled simultaneously. |
Does using the virtual disk affect computer performance? |
1.There is no effect on accessing to general hard disk.
2.The speed of accessing to the virtual disk is 20% slower than to a general hard disk. |
Do I need to divide the hard disk again if using MagicDisk system? |
No, you do not need. You can create virtual disks any time.
|
How can I prevent the problems of confidential information leakage caused by losing the notebook and Magic wand at the same time? |
Please set the configuration as that users need to enter the password when plugging the magic wand to avoid information leakage. |
Does MagicDisk supports UNIX, LINUX and MAC operating systems? |
MagicDisk only supports WINTEL operating system, including 98/ME/2K/XP. |
What kind of encryption algorithms are adopted by MagicDisk? |
AES (256 BITS) and BlowFish (448 BITS). |
What is the AES encryption algorithm? |
AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) is second generation encryption standard developed by America to replace current used DES algorithm for dealing with the rapid advance of computer operation ability. The length of encryption key of AES can be 128 bits, 192 bits and 256 bits. |
What is the Blowfish algorithm?
|
BLOWFISH is an encryption algorithm developed by B.Schneier. The key length can be resized from 32bits to 448 bits. |
Can I transfer virtual disk to NTFS format? |
Yes, you can. |
How can I dismount a virtual disk? |
1.You can use MagicDisk console to dismount it.
2.Open the File explorer and right click on the virtual disk to dismount it. |
Can I mount a virtual disk on the Internet? |
Currently, only enterprise version supports it. |
What can I do if losing my magic wand? |
1.Please buy a new magic wand.
2.Use the rescue password to mount virtual disks.
3.Insert the new magic wand. Use the "rescue" function to establish the relation between the mounted virtual disks and the new magic wand. |
How can I rescue data if I lose my magic wand and do not remember the rescue password?
|
For enterprise version::
1.Please use master key to mount virtual disks.
2.Please copy the data which is in the virtual disks.
For professional version:Data cannot be restored if the password has been forgotten. |
Is there any other way to remedy the problems of virtual disk(s) damaged caused by inappropriate operation? |
If you use a FAT32 virtual disk, you can use RescueFAT.exe. The steps are described in the followings:
1.Execute RescuteFAT.exe in the installation directory of MagicDisk 2005.
2.Click on [Open] to select the MagicDisk files which need to be rescued.
3.Accroding to the producing time of backup files to select and use these files to restore FAT table of MagicDisk.
4.Click on [Rescue] to rescue the FAT table. After the rescue is completed, please try to mount the virtual disk(s) again.
Note:
5.We do not recommended using this tool because the process of FAT rescue might damage or lose the files in MagicDisk, unless the MagicDisk is damaged and can not be mounted or no one uses it but it is being considered in used.
6.The FAT table(s) is backupped when every time MagicDisk is mounted. MagicDisk keeps FAT backupped files of recent three times mounting at most. |
